Both dates,17 and 18 February, were marked as the World Hijab Day (WHD) - Singapore Leg edition. The 2-day outdoor flea event was part of MODESTyle’s support for the global movement. Tapping into the theme of “inspire to empower”, MODEStyle believes in making the non-profit cause a platform to educate the public on breaking the stereotypes of donning the hijab.
WHD is celebrated every year in the month of February. After a long hiatus, MODESTyle decided to spearhead the event, re-adding Singapore to the list of official participating cities. The event, held at Baghdad Street, created a history with a turnout of more than 10,000 visitors, comprising of tourists and locals.

With massive pre-event buzz by the local media and prominent influential women, WHD received positive responses locally and regionally. The event, which comprises over 30 flea spaces and booths, had brands such as Budinadia, Ettahir, Pure, Modestnour, Butik Heffa and Ana & Azi.
The public was encouraged to share their hijab stories which were read out during the event. Some of the stories were even published on MODESTyle’s social media and editorial section here.
MODESTyle is proud to be the official organiser of World Hijab Day 2018 and would like to thank each of our ambassadors, vendors and the public who had come down to spread positive vibes in the notion for women empowerment!
