Leading online aggregator and organiser of global modest fashion and lifestyle events, MODESTyle, is once again the organiser for the World Hijab Day (“WHD”) 2018, Singapore leg. The WHD event will be held on Baghdad Street, from February 17-18, 2018. The global renowned movement is happening throughout the month of February and multicultural Singapore will be one of the highlighted participating cities for this year.
In conjunction with this year’s theme of “We inspire to empower”, the non-profit WHD event seeks to inspire the community in breaking stereotypes on donning the hijab. WHD also wants to create an ambience where women, regardless of ethnicity and religion, unite and partake in this social event. This year, the carnival-inspired fiesta will see various local and regional brands being involved by supporting this event with sales items for hijabs, accessories and apparels.
MODESTyle will feature a strong team of influential women and media personalities to be the Singapore Ambassadors of this global event, who will be present during the 2-day event to encourage ladies of all races and cultures to don a hijab, so as to foster a greater understanding and tolerance amongst the population. Participants are encouraged to take pictures of themselves in headscarves and hashtag #worldhijabday #MODESTyle, to join the global festivities of this special occasion.
Spectators to this event will also have the opportunity to view the different styles of hijabs, in line with different cultures around the world. In addition, WHD will also feature several top hijab brands from around the world being showcased for the first time in Singapore. Being a social event, MODESTyle will lead a hijab donation drive where the public can donate their pre-loved scarves in the “HIJABOX” stationed at the event. It will then be given to non- profit organisations in Singapore which provide aids to the underprivileged women.
WHD will be opened to the public from 3 pm - 11 pm during the event dates. All women (and men) are welcomed to visit to show their support and partake in this global event, which marks its first edition in Singapore.
